It is wedding season, and a couple from Pennsylvania recently had one of the most unique wedding ceremonies you will ever hear.
According to a report by Gamer Headlines from May 27, Robert Piazza and Christa Slayton, lifelong fans of The Legend of Zelda series, tied the knot dressed as their favorite Nintendo characters; Link and Princess Zelda.
Family and friends who attended the wedding also dressed in a Zelda-theme. Sadly, the wedding wasn’t held in Hyrule or in the Lost Woods. It was, however, conducted at the GameStop store where the couple first met.
Nearly one year ago, the couple met at a Mario Kart 8 tournament held at GameStop. While the Blue Shell and the Mario Kart franchise has led to the conclusion of friendships, this time Mario Kart did the exact opposite and brought the two into a romance.
Racing at 150cc, the next lap of their relationship was about to begin. In Oct. of last year, Robert proposed to Christa at the same GameStop location.
After being wed, the bride and groom didn’t take part in the ceremonial first dance. Instead of dancing, the couple played a one-on-one match of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Once the first match was completed, friends and family joined in on the fun and participated in a Smash Bros. competition.
Nintendo donated prizes for the Smash Bros. for Wii U competition that the couple organized for the party guests.
With Link and Zelda united, all is peaceful in the land of Pennsylvania.
