Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U exclusive, Splatoon, has inspired the minds of artists worldwide, and now you can win a Wii U with a copy of Splatoon by showing off your unique fan-art. Nintendo of America will be hosting a couple of events for fans to participate in during the month on May in anticipation of Splatoon’s May 29 launch.
Not only will be there be an art contest held via Tumblr, but fans in California are invited to a launch event where they’ll be able to play the game’s Turf War multiplayer mode, and watch celebrities make their way through an ink-filled obstacle course.
In a post on Tumblr today, Nintendo of America announced that they will be hosting an art contest, in which they ask fans to create their most “squidtastic Splatoon-themed artwork” to share on Tumblr.
Those that create and share Splatoon fan-art can win a Wii U with a copy of Splatoon, while other entrants may win a copy of Splatoon.
To enter, simply create some unique art inspired by Splatoon, go to Tumblr, and tag your work with #Splatoon, #GetInked and #NintendoContestEntry so it can be found. Entries are due by May 29.
If you happen to be the Santa Monica, California area, you are invited to the Splatoon Mess Fest event, which will take place on Friday, May 15. Nintendo has invited teams of celebrities to overcome a massive ink-filled obstacle course inspired by the game.
Teams will compete in various events inspired by elements found in the game featuring colorful inks. Additional details on how fans can win a chance to participate in the game-themed course will be revealed in the near future.
Those that attend the Splatoon Mess Fest event will be among the first to try the game’s Turf War multiplayer mode prior to the game’s launch.
Spectators will also receive special Splatoon t-shirts – while supplies last. The event will be held on May 15 on the Santa Monic Pier from 11 a.m. through 7 p.m.
