Microsoft and The Coalition have released the first Gears of War title for the Xbox One with the emergence of Gears of War Ultimate Edition on the console. With the title now in the hands of gamers worldwide, many are curious as to what is next for the game.
The most popular questions being: will there be new downloadable content? Will we see new maps, characters, or weapon skins?
Well, Jack Felling – developer & producer of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition & Gear of War 4, provided answers to these questions in a forum post on the official Gears of War website on Aug. 30.
Those hoping to see future DLC, new multiplayer characters, additional weapon skins, or new maps to play on will be disappointed to learn that such content is not currently planned for Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
Felling shared that the development team isn’t planning to create any new content for the game, but did add that if these plans change that an update will be provided as soon as possible.
As for the reason behind why no such content is planned, Felling shared that the development team at The Coalition are focused on “creating more maps, characters, and features for Gears of War 4,” which is scheduled to release next year.
Even with no plans to release new content, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is pretty loaded when it comes to content.
Featuring 19 multiplayer modes and 8 game modes to select from, there is plenty to keep players occupied with for months to come. We reviewed Gears of War: Ultimate Edition earlier this month – find our full review here.
