With Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End now delayed until early 2016, an international retailer believes that Sony may fill the PS4’s holiday void by releasing remastered versions of the original trilogy in a complete set.
A curious listing was spotted on a French retailer’s website today, as CeDe is advertising Uncharted: The Remastered Trilogy for release in Sept. on the PlayStation 4.
To make their claim more convincing, the retailer even has an elegant box art to go along the product listing. Sadly, this listing is looking rather suspect.
While an Uncharted trilogy remaster seems like a smart idea and is expected by most fans, neither Sony nor Naughty Dog have announced any official plans to release such a collection.
Naughty Dog previously said that releasing a remaster collection would be nice as it would give them an opportunity to expand their audience. As to whether or not such a release would happen, the company wasn’t sure if they could pull it off.
“I don’t know how we’d ever pull that off but I don’t want to say we wouldn’t do it. I think if everything aligns, we should make an attempt to look into it and do it as well,” said Naughty Dog Community Manager Arne Mayer.
With E3 2015 right around the corner, retail listing and rumors of forthcoming releases will begin to appear in droves. Unfortunately, the product listing on Cede does have one fatal issue: the box art used on the site is nearly a year old and fan-made.
Now, this doesn’t necessarily dismiss the possibility of an Uncharted: The Remastered Trilogy being real, but is does make one question the current product listing’s legitimacy.
If Sony is to release an Uncharted Remaster Collection, expect to see and hear about it at E3 in June.
