It is time for an ink-redible new Nintendo Direct. Nintendo of America announced today that a Splatoon focused Nintendo Direct broadcast will air next week.
Much like the Xenoblade Chronicles X Direct from last week, expect to see a bunch of new footage and learn about the game’s modes, characters, amiibo functionality, and a whole lot more.
The Splatoon Direct will air on Thursday, May 7 at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET on Nintendo’s website and Youtube channel.
Splatoon is one of the most unique game ideas to come from Nintendo and the gaming industry in quite some time. This team-based third-person shooter doesn’t emphasize on killing the opposition.
Instead, the game’s primary goal is to cover a stage in ink. Whichever team covers the highest percentage of the stage in their color ink, will win a match.
However, killing opponents plays an important role as you don’t want them coloring over your controlled territories. There are additional multiplayer modes in the game, so expect lots of game variety.
“We’ll share some squid-tastic new details about the upcoming Wii U game via the Squid Research Lab,” Nintendo teases for the upcoming Nintendo Direct.
Splatoon is looking to be one of the Wii U’s biggest releases for 2015. With unique gameplay and weapons, imaginative characters, and worthwhile amiibo functionality, this is a title that all Wii U owners should have their eye on.
We recently wrote about many of the distinct gameplay features found in the title, so jump over to our previous coverage to learn more about the game and why it could be the Wii U’s next big thing.
Nintendo will release Splatoon on May 29.
